Summary

Sarah J。 Maas's sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta。

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive。 And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits。 Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it。

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit。 But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites。 The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other。

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms。 And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts。

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms。

Being an intense ACOTAR fan, I'm glad I read reviews on this book before I read it。 Now that I've finished it, I understand the greatly mixed reviews from those who love or hate it。 It was REALLY hard for me to get through the first half of this book。 Going from Feyre's perspective to Nesta's was like a slap in the face。 I could not for the life of me stand her way of viewing the world。 It was awful。 But I pushed through the immensely frustrating first half of this book, and I'm really really gl Being an intense ACOTAR fan, I'm glad I read reviews on this book before I read it。 Now that I've finished it, I understand the greatly mixed reviews from those who love or hate it。 It was REALLY hard for me to get through the first half of this book。 Going from Feyre's perspective to Nesta's was like a slap in the face。 I could not for the life of me stand her way of viewing the world。 It was awful。 But I pushed through the immensely frustrating first half of this book, and I'm really really glad I did。 I'm not a glass half empty person, so reading the perspective of someone who wanted to just die rather than fight for her own life was hard for me。 And I think people get mad about how the Inner Circle handled Nesta's self abuse。 However, as someone who would hate watching my sister whither away into nothing, I understand why they did it the way they did。 I loved how SJM established the relationship between Cassian and Nesta, because I truly believe that was a major part of her healing。 Not because she NEEDED him to be better, but he was the solid force that was there when she doubted herself。 And while he didn't always handle it well, I think he did the best he could while battling his own demons。 When you think of the brokenness they have both experienced, I can't help but admire him for not trying to force her to do anything she didn't want to do, while also trying to help her fight for herself。 That is no small feat and a hard balance to accomplish。I loved the story of redemption, the process of learning how to strengthen yourself, to see your value and your worth outside of what people say to you。 Because you ARE worth a life full of beauty and love and acceptance。 It doesn't mean the broken pieces go away, but you learn to live with them and adjust your life according to the lessons they've taught you。 It was beautiful to see Nesta's transformation。 It's not perfect, and it's not supposed to be。 But she started taking steps towards healthy thinking and healthy relationships。 I wanted to applaud her for that。 I will say, the one thing I couldn't stand about this book, was the sex。 Holy erotica batman。 It was just completely unrealistic to me。 I'm all about sex that helps people connect。 The intimate relationship between Rhysand and Feyre is beautiful。 Again, it's intimate and respectful。 It helped them connect and stay connected。 The sex between Nesta and Cassian was so intense, that I had to skip parts of it。 And I'm a 32 year old woman who has been married for 10 years, so that's saying something。 Yikes。 If Im going to read about sex, I don't want to feel dirty when it's over。 That's not good writing。 That's just shock value and it does no one any good。I extremely disagree with the YA category for this book。 It is in no way suitable for the YA shelves。 I feel that way about the rest of the series as well, but especially this one。Overall, I'm satisfied with the series。 If SJM decided to stop here, it would feel complete to me even though there's a lot more she could write about。 。。。more

Holy。 fucking。 shit。 This was probably my favourite of the series。 I know a lot of people don't really like ACOSF bc it's not from Feyre's pov anymore but I loved every minute of Nesta's (her sister)。 Probably bc I relate to her a lot and it was so refreshing reading through her eyes and seeing her heal throughout the book。 I have a lot of thoughts so prepare thyself。(no spoilers。。。 ish)First of all, the smut。 Glorious, chef's kiss。 Cassian was WHIPPED, WHIPPED for Nesta and I loved it。 I also h Holy。 fucking。 shit。 This was probably my favourite of the series。 I know a lot of people don't really like ACOSF bc it's not from Feyre's pov anymore but I loved every minute of Nesta's (her sister)。 Probably bc I relate to her a lot and it was so refreshing reading through her eyes and seeing her heal throughout the book。 I have a lot of thoughts so prepare thyself。(no spoilers。。。 ish)First of all, the smut。 Glorious, chef's kiss。 Cassian was WHIPPED, WHIPPED for Nesta and I loved it。 I also have a preference for Nesta and Cassian over Feyre and Rhysand (sorry not sorry Feysand shippers) probably bc Cassian is fucking fine as fuck。 like FUCK。 One teeny thing I would change is the fact that SJM always ALWAYS uses the word "roars" when the male mc comes and it's definitely an *interesting* choice of words (I hate it。 So much。)。 Also the amount of sex Feysand had over 4 books is the amount Nessian have over 400 pages- it's intense。Next, the female friendships were so beautiful I thought I was going to rip my heart out bc it was so painful。 The way Nesta finds her healing not only in herself but with the help of Gwyn and Emerie was so so precious, especially at the end (⚠️minor spoiler) during the Blood Rite I cried so much。 (end of minor spoiler ⚠️)The last 100 or so pages were non-negotiably the best part of the book, I kept crying over and over again I couldn't catch a fucking break oh my god。I loved Nesta's friendship with the House, I loved seeing her heal through her training with Cassian and becoming so powerful, I loved seeing her open up more, I loved the little smut book club the 3 girls had going on, I loved the whole thing with Nesta climbing up and down the 10 000 steps of the stairs and getting further every time。 OMG and when she finally does it and decides that she wants to run back up the stairs to Cassian instead of escaping was so heart-wrenchingly romantic I died。Most of all, I loved that she found forgiveness for herself and that she mended her relationship with her sisters, Elain and especially Feyre- that last scene was so gutting but so precious to read。So so sad to leave the ACOTAR world but it was so worth the 2500+ pages read。 I probably have way more thoughts but I've almost written a whole 6th novel so I'll leave it at that。 。。。more

I NEED ANOTHER BOOK!!!! PLZZZ SJM!!! No surprise this book was incredible! Another emotional roller coaster! I spent the last year avoiding reading this book… I couldn’t understand how Nesta could be worth reading about (that’s because SJM knows how to write and evoke such emotions!!) But it was time in my journey to brave her story。 I felt this book in a deep dark place of myself。 So much of Nesta was me one point or another。 How SJM dealt with each character and their traumas, how each of us deals。 The manner in which PTSD was handled was so on point。 I bow to you Sa Another emotional roller coaster! I honestly don’t even know how to write this review, but I’ll try。 This has to be one of my favorite books in this series if not my favorite book “so far”。 😱Nesta is the MC of this book and she starts off in such a dark, depressing place trying to squelch the pain and guilt she feels from the war with Hybern and her father dying in front of her without her being able to stop it。 She’s eaten alive by guilt that she has blocked herself from all communication with her family and the night court and I honestly don’t even know how to write this review, but I’ll try。 This has to be one of my favorite books in this series if not my favorite book “so far”。 😱Nesta is the MC of this book and she starts off in such a dark, depressing place trying to squelch the pain and guilt she feels from the war with Hybern and her father dying in front of her without her being able to stop it。 She’s eaten alive by guilt that she has blocked herself from all communication with her family and the night court and is just wasting away her life。 No purpose or drive, but just hatred towards herself。 Feyre has finally had enough and makes her go train with Cassian in the House of Wind and work in the library after training。Nesta’s heart starts to change slightly throughout the book but there’s many parts where you don’t think she’ll ever get past her own guilt。 So much depth and healing to her journey。Such a beautifully written story of friendship, love, controlling and using her power, and being a part of a family。 🥺 。。。more

4。8 ⭐️ 。2 knocked off because some of the sexy scenes were too graphic for my personal taste。 But the story line & character ARC of Nesta was top notch。 I was very hesitant to read this book, and I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner!!Spoilers: ❤️I love that Nesta found her own found family! ❤️I love that Nesta let her friends win & purposely lost to protect them ❤️I love that Nesta gave up her power to save her sister

I've finally done it。 I've finally read ACOSF! Since it was released I was doing my best to keep my eyes off all the buzz, though when it comes to this series, that's hard to do。 I did enjoy most of this book。 Maas is an author who excels that building up her characters and world, sometimes for chapters at a time, which can make plot pacing seem choppy here and there (though nothing I mind too much, as I do appreciate a strong world with a strong system - be that magic, political, or otherwise - I've finally done it。 I've finally read ACOSF! Your super powerful warrior girl changed her anatomy so she can have a baby。) When I read that part, despite all I had really enjoyed about ACOSF, this was my face (I'm not kidding):Not only can I just *NOT* see Nesta as a mother (Aunt Nesta is something I can see。。。but a mother? No。), but it also widdles her character down into the same, tired trope of "all women, regardless of personality, inevitably want to be mothers。" Never mind the fact that it is totally inconsistent with her character。 And yes, I know she did this to save Feyre, but you're telling me Maas could think of NO other way for Nesta to ~redeem~ herself + save her sister without wholly giving up the power she'd just learned to wield? For Christ's sake!Honestly, had the ending not been what it was, this book would have been a 3 or 4 stars - not perfect, maybe, but strong enough and enjoyable。 But that ending。。。boy, oh boy, did it leave a bad taste in my mouth。I get that I am in a minority of reviewers here, and hey, I love Nessian just as much as the next! But in my [sometimes not-so-humble], yet completely SUBJECTIVE opinion (isn't that what all book reviews are, the good and the bad?), the ending tarnished a character I had grown to love。 。。。more

Loved this addition to the series even thought I wasn't initially a fan of Nesta's--but she won me over by the end of the novel! This book had more soft magic (which I'm also not a fan of), but everything still made sense。 There were several important plots going on at once, and the ending tied everything together--it was extremely satisfying because all urgent questions were answered, yet enough was left unsaid to be further explored in the next novel。 Love this series and can't wait for more! She needs help we love cassian”。 Was this a vehicle to let us rationalize her sexuality and experience with cassian and the rumored deleted threesome? Who knows。 Either way, nesta apparently girl bosses too hard to the sun and needed to stay a side character to shit on in the future so all personal growth and power is stripped away at the 11th hour for a random subplot revolving around the baby。 Like girl,BFFR。 I have the feeling she realized this after sending it very late to her editors for publishing because she immediately dipped and moved onto new projects。 To summarize what I remember most,They could have had the main couple get together earlier with him being her first hookup and then more chaotic enemies to lovers banter。 Instead we have nesta dealing with her trauma, having friends for the first time, realizing being a bitch (which was her defense mechanism and conditioning from her social climbing mother) wouldn’t slide with the regime of Rhys and his buddies so she finishes her hero’s journey by losing her powers and going on an apology tour for the people who imo didn’t like her in the first place nor did they understand her。 But her desire to be with cassian and have a place in his and her sisters lives heavily influenced that decision。 Balthazar was honestly the most intriguing side character but Azriel is the most compelling main character outside cassian and nesta’s coupling。 In 50 years when he has his own book I’m sure it’s going to be at least 2 levels spicer than this book because in retrospect it’s barely above YA romance (which has great story telling but I cannot read another book about teenagers for the rest of my life and every one of them is about a 17/18 year old) 。。。more

It has been great to dive back into the world of Feyre, Rhys and all of their friends。 It has been a few years since I read the first few books in this series, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reacquainting myself with their story again。 Whilst this book shifted focus and concentrated on different characters, I still enjoyed getting lost in the world of Prythian once again。 I hope it's not too long before there is another book in this series。 It has been great to dive back into the world of Feyre, Rhys and all of their friends。 It has been a few years since I read the first few books in this series, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reacquainting myself with their story again。 Whilst this book shifted focus and concentrated on different characters, I still enjoyed getting lost in the world of Prythian once again。 I hope it's not too long before there is another book in this series。 。。。more
